The Ijexá drum beat originates from the Yoruba culture of Nigeria. It is a rhythm deeply rooted in the Afro-Brazilian traditions, often associated with the Water Line of Oxum and Yemanja. From its sacred origins, the Ijexá rhythm later influenced popular Brazilian music and the carnival parade.
